From 1 July 2018 the firm of O’Sullivan Saddington and Co will join McDonald Johnson Lawyers to operate from the existing premises of McDonald Johnson at 14 Watt Street, Newcastle. McDonald Johnson Lawyers was established in 1916 and O’Sullivan Saddington and Co was established by Stephen O’Sullivan and John Saddington in 1981.
The principal partner of McDonald Johnson Lawyers, Craig Doyle, said “I see both firms as having a strong and respectable reputation. Importantly, the firms are a cultural fit with professional and dedicated staff who will help project the larger firm further into the legal professional service market in terms of a quality and practical legal product. We are about being honest and realistic and not about gloss and spin.”
John Saddington said “The merger presents a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to provide, well into the future, the best possible service for our clients. With the similarity in cultures and McDonald Johnson being very experienced in the areas of law O’Sullivan and Saddington practise in, the transition will be smooth for our clients. A further benefit for our clients is that McDonald Johnson practise additional areas of law that our firm doesn’t. Our wonderful staff will also be heading to the new firm which also augers well for a smooth transition.”
Before the merger, McDonald Johnson had recently engaged two graduate lawyers from Newcastle University and one experienced Newcastle family law practitioner to help service their existing and expanding client base. The team at McDonald Johnson Lawyers are well positioned to help service the larger business under the stewardship of some of the most experienced lawyers in Newcastle.
