Over the years the firm has been involved in a large number of high profile Land and Environment Court matters. In particular we have acted for a number of prominent property development groups in progressing development consent in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales following refusals at the local council level.
We have also developed significant expertise in advising industrial and property development groups and state government authorities in relation to development, planning and environmental matters including the implications of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and numerous pieces of environmental legislation.
Following recent changes in the Newcastle and Lower Hunter industrial landscape we have advised a number of government and private-sector clients on the implications of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and Contaminated Land Management Act 1997 and have been involved in a number of court actions involving those Acts.
We pride ourselves on providing proactive advice to allow clients to avoid pitfalls in planning and environmental matters. Where clients do run into trouble, we endeavour to seek satisfactory negotiated results rather than resorting to expensive litigation proceedings.
